In the last edition of MESA On-Line newsletter, we introduced
this equation:
Quality + Service + Stability = Reliability For the past twenty-five years, MESA has been building our business based on this equation. We believe the fact that we are still around to celebrate our 25th Anniversary as a company this year means we have been successful in each area – quality, service and stability. Certainly we have made a lot of progress in each of these areas and the occasion of our 25th Anniversary makes us realize how focused we really have been. Twenty-five years of single ownership and successful growth in an industry where companies enter and exit or change owners on a daily basis is quite an accomplishment. Our initial survival depended on quality since MESA had very few customers and very little business. We had to insure everything we did would bring those customers back to MESA. A fellow entrepreneur said, “Fear is a very, very important factor in entrepreneurial success.” The initial employees at MESA understood this fear and used it as a motivator to help grow MESA into the 60-employee company it is today. We must have done something right because we are still around, still growing and still have many of those same employees as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary. Every MESA employee understands who pays our paychecks – our customers. We are unrelenting in our efforts to communicate with our customers and understand their needs. MESA’s three-level customer survey program includes a comprehensive statistical survey on 3-year intervals; quarterly performance service audit; ongoing salesperson data acquisition. Through this three-pronged approach, we feel we are highly attuned to our customer’s needs in a rapidly changing marketplace. At MESA, we strongly believe our long success in the cathodic protection industry is because we have not deviated from our initial core business. Our approach was and is to be the #1 provider of cathodic protection materials and service in the U.S. Feedback from our customers tell us we have been successful in this goal. Regarding success, Michael Bloomberg said, “After hard work,
the biggest determinant is being in the right place at the right time.”
Here at MESA, we couldn’t agree with him more. We feel we have
had our share of good luck but we also feel we have added enough hard
work to insure we will be around for another twenty-five years. We
want to invite all our customers to come along for the next 25-year
ride – we promise it will be a ride built on quality and service
– the MESA Value Promise.
