MESA Press ReleaseTulsa, Oklahoma - November 21, 2006FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE President Bush names MESA Products, Inc. Recipient of 2006 Baldrige Award President George Bush and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez today announced MESA Products as a recipient of the 2006 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The coveted Baldrige Award is the nation's premier award for performance excellence and quality achievement. MESA Products was recognized in the small business category. Two other organizations were also named as recipients. Formal presentation of the award will occur at a ceremony in Washington, DC early next year. The award is considered by many to be the business world's most prestigious honor, named after the former Secretary of Commerce. It was established in 1987 in response to competitive threats by perceived higher levels of quality internationally, to recognize American companies that achieved the highest standards in quality. The award is presented annually, although not necessarily in every category, to organizations with exemplary achievements in seven areas: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management, and results. President of the company, Terry May, credits the 70 employees of MESA with achieving this exclusive national recognition. "I feel blessed - not for receiving this award but for the privilege of working with such a great team of people", commented Terry May. "I am honored that a small company from Tulsa, Oklahoma has been awarded the nation's highest award for excellence." MESA is the third Tulsa area organization to receive the nation's highest performance excellence award in the past three years, following Bama Corporation in 2004 and Jenks Public Schools in 2005. Last week MESA also was announced as the recipient of the 2006 Oklahoma Quality Award, the state's highest award for performance excellence. MESA Products is a privately-owned business based in Tulsa, with branch offices in Houston, Texas, Tallahassee, Florida, and Huntington Beach, California. The company provides design, technical services, materials, and installation for cathodic protection systems. Cathodic protection is an electrochemical process for preventing corrosion applied to a wide variety of metallic structures including pipelines, distribution systems, above ground tanks, underground tanks, refineries and offshore.
