HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SHIPPING

MESA Products has a long-standing commitment to excellence in meeting the needs of our customers, employees, neighbors, the larger community in general and the various regulatory agencies with which we interact.  We have gone to great lengths to insure we operate our business in a safe manner.

This emphasis on safety recently led us to the discovery that many of the common products we routinely handle require special “Hazardous Material” shipping procedures, regardless of the means of shipment.

·        Common products included in these requirements are 90B1 epoxy splice kits, mastic, coating primers, and Skotchkote sealant.

·        Shipping costs for a hazardous material shipment are significantly more than that of a regular shipment.

·        The result of minor infractions of hazardous material regulations can be penalties as high as $27,500 or even criminal prosecution.

·        It requires a Ph.D. on your staff to decipher regulations for shipping hazardous materials (OK, this is a little exaggerated).

·        Employees are required to be trained and certified to ship hazardous materials.

Given the choice of either fully complying with shipping regulations or not shipping some of these common products, MESA is taking the necessary steps to insure we safely ship these materials designated as hazardous materials.  These steps include:

·        Updating our hazardous material shipping procedures.

·        Designated shipping and sales personnel are attending appropriate training.

·        Inventorying our product line and identifying all affected products.

Our commitment is to provide a complete line of cathodic protection materials to our customers as well as operating our business within the guidelines of all applicable regulations.
