As MESA Products looks back at 2002, we see the most successful year in the twenty-three year history of our company. This kind of success is only possible because of the continued trust and loyalty of our customers. MESA employees work hard every day to earn our customers’ business. In this edition of MESA Online, you will read about one of those long-time employees who have contributed significantly to our success in 2002.

A successful year doesn’t mean much if it doesn’t translate into value for our customers. At MESA, we don’t just measure our success in terms of sales and profits. While those measures are certainly important, we believe success is best measured in terms of the benefits to our customers. During 2002, we believe these improvements in MESA operations added value for our customers:

Expanded production capacity in both production space and personnel to accommodate increased customer requirements
New computer software for our sales group that enhances their ability to monitor customer requirements and communicate more effectively
Initiation of steps to upgrade our ISO certification to the 2000 edition
Compliance with Department of Transportation Operator Qualification requirements

While we had an outstanding year in 2002 in spite of the upheavals in the energy industry, we are certainly seeing signs that the business trend we have enjoyed over the past couple of years has turned downward. All of the dramatic changes in the energy industry during 2002 will have an impact on MESA’s business as well.

As we make plans for 2003, we look for a very challenging year but one in which we can continue our growth – particularly in the Gulf Coast market and in other strategic niche markets. For our growth in the Gulf Coast, we recognize we will have more demand for services and are planning accordingly for these additional requirements. We also plan to focus on strengthening our overall infrastructure – training; quality and delivery systems.

By anticipating the business climate for 2003, we like to say to the people with the Chicken Little theories, take another look at the sky. It’s not falling. It’s expanding.
And, we think MESA is in position to continue its growth and success..
